Building Process: Wind Turbine
You can easily make the blades by cutting the PVC tubing according to the shape of the blade. The tubing should be wide enough to tolerate any kind of wind speed. The blades can be made in different sizes so you have to make sure you cut the blade and form it in a shape that will be in proportion with the total size of the wind turbine.
For residential purpose, 16 to 20 inches of blade length will do the work. After you have cut the PVC tube and formed 4 blades of equal length, simply attach it to a hub. Take the blades and screw it gently onto the hub. Make sure the screwed blades are tight enough so that it doesn’t loosen up while it rotates.
Accordingly, take the motor and attach it patiently to timber wood. The length of the wood should be around 36 inches. For safety purpose, cover the motor with the plastic sheet. This will protect the motor to be unaffected from any kind of harm due to the fluctuation of the weather condition.
Connect the rectangular metal onto the other end of the wood to act as a tail fin. These will help in directing the blades to the direction where the winds are the strongest and will help in getting more power overall. Behind the motor, drill carefully and insert wires. Pick the pipe bracket and attach it beneath the hole.
Then insert an even smaller pipe onto the bracket. Make sure the smaller pipe can move easily and freely so that the blades can spin straightforwardly due to the wind. Take the wire and insert it into the pipe.
After that, take the whole system that you have built and attach it to a piece of wood that is large enough to work perfectly as a base. This base should be fixed to the ground or any other kind of weighted system for getting a perfect support.
This should be done because the base and the whole windmill system need to stand strong and vertical when the strong winds will hit. Run the wire carefully from the motor of the wind turbine to a dry place where you have placed the battery. Connect the wire carefully between the motor and the battery.
Likewise, the connection is done due to the storage of electricity that will be generated from the conversion of wind energy. You can also use an extra battery for this purpose. If your current battery is full, you can just replace it with a new fresh one. In this way, the electricity generation will be in a constant flow.
